On the 10th, 17th and 23rd of August, Year 3 students visited science works to watch the Planetarium show tilt. Students learnt how the four seasons are caused by the tilt of the Earth’s axis combined with the Earth’s orbit around the Sun and how the seasons and length of day vary across the Earth.
We went to science works with our class. We had loads of fun on our journey. Science works helps us learn about science in a fun way. I learned that the world is tilted and that there is 4.8 million stars that’s so much! There is a picture of a scorpion and a Sagittarius. There are two parts of the milky way that are not together and scientist say that in some years they will join together. [Grade 3 student]
On the 17th of August, I went to science works with my class. We went to a place called the
planetarium. We watched a movie called Tilt. It was a really long movie. It was very funny. Do
you know that you can see Jupiter and Saturn in the sky? [Grade 3 student]
We went to science works it was really fun so let me tell you the story. First we got in the bus then when we got there we had a snack. After that we put our bags in our locker. Then we went and played some fun and cool games. Then this is where it gets exciting so we went to the planetarium and watched a movie. When we watched the movie the chairs go back when you lean back. [Grade 3 student]
I went to science works with my class. I learnt a lot of things during the excursion like the constellation of
dots that make Scorpio and Sagittarius. I also learnt that our galaxy is in a Milky-way. Did you know that you can see Jupiter and Saturn in Sydney they are not as white they are mixed up with the colour cream and yellow? [Grade 3 student]
