Year 10A Science Victorian Space Science Education Centre

On Thursday the 9th of November, year 10A Science students attended an excursion to the Victorian Space Science Education Centre. The excursion was an engaging finale to their studies about the Universe. All students had the chance to explore a simulated Martian crater in full astronaut gear and collect samples which they latter analysed in a science laboratory. The students also had the opportunity to be a part of mission control which involved guiding their classmates through the tasks they had to do on Mars. The second half of the day was spent analysing the samples they collected in a science laboratory and putting together their discoveries about Mars in the past, present and future.

Well done to 10A students for completing their missions successfully!

The excursion to the Victorian Space Science Education Centre was really fun. I learned a lot about Mars, its history, present and future. We had different jobs and got a chance to be both astronauts and in mission control. It was an awesome learning experience. Thank-you to Ms Adele for organising this excursion and the school for making it possible. [10A student]

The excursion to the Victorian Space Science Education Centre was very exciting, innovative and fun. It felt very cool to dress up from head to toe in an astronaut suit and experience what it would be like to go to space. I especially enjoyed the mission control because I had headphone communication and I felt like I was on a secret mission. On this excursion I discovered so many new things about Mars that will stay with me forever. This excursion was lots of fun and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in Science and I would like to thank Ms Adele for the amazing experience. [10A student]

The excursion to the Victorian Space Science Education Centre was extremely fun. We learnt a lot of interesting facts about Mars. We got to suit up like astronauts and go on a simulation of Mars. We had to collect rock samples and test them out. It was a cool and amazing experience. [10A student]

On Thursday the 9th of November we went on an excursion to the Victorian Space Science Education Centre. It was an amazing and beneficial experience. Every second of the excursion was fun and interesting. [10A student]

We had an amazing experience on the simulated planet Mars. We gathered samples to determine whether life was present on Mars in the past or present and to see if life was possible there in the future. It was a great, amusing and very fun experience. Thank-you to our Science teacher Ms. Adele for organising the excursion. [10A student]

On the 9th of November my year 10 Science class went on an excursion to the Victorian Space Science Education Centre. I must say that it was a fun and knowledge enriching excursion and I wish I could have stayed longer. The scientific exploration of Mars was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it for other classes. As we’ve been learning about space in school, this experience further enhanced my understanding of what is happening beyond Earth’s atmosphere. [10A student]
